"Kyrie ekekraksa", "Pasa pnoi", Daniel Protopsaltis, tone plagal b', explanation by Konstantinos Fotopoulos

The present "Kekragaria" and "Pasapnoaria" are a big proof that Petros Lampadarios didn't create himself a new genus of melopoiia (which is named nowadays "Short Stixirariko genus"), but he wrote down and simplified an older tradition with roots deep in the "Slow Heirmologikon genus".

If we compare the music compositions of the 2 genus, we will see that the changes Petros Lampadarios did, are few and many music sequences are the same. A specific point that we must pay attention is the " wrong" intonation in "Kyrie ekekraksa" hymn, in the word "eisakouson mou" at the end of the track. In " Kateuthinthito" hymn we meet the same exactly word at the end of the track but this time Petros use a very different music sequence and the intonation this time is correct acoording to the greek grammar. So from this comparison we understand that Petros used the "wrong" intonation because he wanted and not from mistake and this is a part of his art.

If we consider carefully, music tracks from the book "Anastasimatarion" written by Daniel Protopsaltis we obtain an overview for the church music in Konstantinople in the late 18th century.
