Ioannis Traiforos was born in Athens in 1985. He is a graduate of the Social Theology Department of National University of Athens. At the same time, he has studied classical and traditional violin for nine years, with the masters Vassilis Karantanis, Yiannis Zeugolis , Giorgos Marinakis and Kyriakos Gouvendas , while he has also attended music seminars with Antonis Apergis.
He was involved in church music from an early age under the teacher of his father, Father Anastasios Traiforos . In 2003, he took part in the Panhellenic Student Artistic Competitions organized by the Ministry of Education and Religion where he was distinguished, receiving the “3rd Prize” in Byzantine music. In 2004 he obtained the “Bachelor of Byzantine Music” and in 2005 the “Diploma of Byzantine Music” with a grade of “Excellent”. Between the years 2013 to 2016 he attended courses in Palaeography of Church Music with teacher Konstantinos Fotopoulos and became a member of the research group of the Palaeography of Church Music of the Scholeion Psaltikis. He is also involved in music composition and in 2013 he participated in the 2nd International Music Competition organized by the Scholeion Psaltikis.
Ioannis Traiforos has been the second cantor of the Church of St. Athanasios in Markopoulo Oropou, 2nd Domestic of the Cathedral of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Amarousion, and 1st cantor of the Church of St Anastasia Perissou where he still serves today.
He is a key member of the choir ” En psalterio”, with which he has participated in numerous concerts, events and church services (feasts of holy monasteries and parish churches) in Greece and abroad while he has participated in the sound recording productions as well as in the television and radio broadcasts of the choir. His participation as a soloist in concerts and events is frequent.
In 2007, he began teaching church music, teaching at various conservatories and schools.
