Haris Lambrakis was born in Athens in 1976 and is a graduate of the Department of Music Studies of EKPA, majoring in ethnomusicology, as well as a holder of a Degree in Harmony. He was involved in music from an early age having his father as his first teacher, and he later studied ney under Sylvia Koutroulis and Omer Erdogdular, composition with Yiannis Ioannidis and Byzantine music with Ioannis Arvanitis and Vassilis Baraboutis.
He participates in festivals and concerts as well as in discography having collaborated with a multitude of important musicians, singers and bands both in Greece and abroad – Haig Yazdjian, Ross Daly, Bijan Chemirani, Michel Doneda, Miguel Gil, Domna Samiou, Savina Giannatou , Michalis Siganidis, Costas Tatsakis, Periklis Papapetropoulos, Christos Tsiamoulis, Antonis Apergis, Stelios Petrakis. Haris Lambrakis has participated in many music groups – Primavera en Salonico, OnEira, Occasional Dream, Project 37 – while he is also a founding and key member of the Haris Lambrakis Quartet (2006) with which he has released two albums.
His involvement in teaching began in 2000 in various conservatories of Athens as well as with giving private lessons. At the same time, he gives seminars in Greece and abroad about composition and improvisation (Labyrinth Music Workshop, Department of Music Studies of the University of Athens, Codarts Rotterdam World Music Academy).
In 2019 he started his collaboration with the “School of Chanting” where he teaches composition and Oriental Music Theory (makam) while he is responsible and teacher of one of the four student orchestras of the School which -especially for this year- is studying the repertoire of Ottoman music.
