Ioannis Michaelidis was born in 1995 and comes from Aridaia. He is a final student of the Department of Political Science and History of Panteion University.
He studied the Pontic lyre since his early age with the well-known artists of the Pontic tradition Dimitris Karassavidis and Kostas Athanasiadis. He also studied church music with Dimitrios Kalomiris and Fr. Sotirios Alevizakis and in 2013 he obtained the “Diploma of Byzantine Music” with a grade of “Excellent”. I. Michailidis actively participates in cultural events of Pontic, and not only, clubs (festivals, dances, events and concerts) playing the lyre and singing, while he also participates in discography.
He has appeared in concerts at the Concert Hall, Herodeion and also abroad (Milan, Venice, France) as a guest of the Greek communities. Also important are his collaborations with the historical Theater of Traditional Dances “Dora Stratou”, with the well-known dance group “Horopatima” as well as with the Pontian club “Argonaftai – Komnenos”.
In 2013, he started teaching Pontic lyre and Pontic song in dancing fellowships, music schools and conservatories, while in the same year his collaboration with the “Chanting School” also began.
